TU men move up at Sawgrass

Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida - The Tulsa men’s golf team improved by 10 shots in the second round and moved into fourth place with a 596 total after two rounds at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational at the Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

Senior Rob Laird is in sixth place after a team-leading 69 in the second round for a 144 total.  Andre’ Tourinho is in 33rd place with a 151 score, while Chris Worrell and Stephen Carney each shot 76 in both rounds to tie for 35th-place with 152 totals.  Arie Fauzi shot seven strokes better and the teams’ second-best round of the day with a 73 and is 40th with a 153.

 North Florida continues to lead the team race with a 582 total, three strokes ahead of 30th-ranked Duke.  Furman is third with a 593 total, while Tulsa, UCF and Georgia Southern are all tied for fourth place at 596.

 The final round will be played Tuesday.
