NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's golf team stands in fifth place after recording rounds of 298 and 301 on Monday  at the 54-hole UCF Challenge.  The 17-team tournament, hosted by the University of Central Florida, is being held at the 6,301-yard, par-72 Red Tail Golf Course in Sorrento, Fla. The Sooners' first-round score of 298 set a season best single-round score under first-year head coach Veronique Drouin.

Georgia State leads the tournament after firing rounds of 292 and 299 to total 591 on Monday.  Texas A&M (ranked No. 24 nationally by Golfweek) ended the day with a team score of 598, as did fellow Big 12 school Baylor and host UCF.

Senior Andrea Sellmeyer is currently tied for seventh place after rounds of 73 (+1) and 72. Both rounds bested her previous season low of 76.

Junior Ellen Mueller is tied for 19th place after following up an even-par first round with a 5-over-par 77 during afternoon play.

Freshman Taylor Schmidt kept her game consistent during the first two rounds by carding matching 76s to stand tied for 31st.  One stroke behind Schmidt is Chelsey Collins, who stands tied for 37th after rounds of 77 and 76. Her 76 in round two marked a season low for the senior.

Sophomore Brooke Collins turned in back-to-back rounds of 80 to round out the team scoring.  The younger Collins will enter the final round in 68th place.

The final round of the UCF Challenge will begin at 7 a.m. (CT) in efforts to get the tournament concluded before anticipated rain.  Check out live scoring at www.golfstat.com.
