Tulsa, ORU tied for second entering final round

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- Oral Roberts and cross-town rival Tulsa are tied for second behind North Texas entering the final round of the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Stripes Islander Spring Classic.

With two rounds complete the Golden Eagles and Golden Hurricane stand at 618 and trail  North Texas (615) by three strokes.

Amber Hensley (Jenks, Okla.) continues to lead ORU after a 75 put her in a tie for fifth at 151. Megan O’Connell (Odessa, Texas) is tied for eighth at 153 (76-77), while Crystal Reeves (Broken Arrow, Okla.) is tied for 15th at 155 (78-77).

Kylie Bollenbach (Edmond, Okla.) struggled during second round play, falling into a tie for 25th after an 83 left her at 159. Eve Santillan (Aguascaliente, Mexico) is tied for 49th at 166 (83-83).

For Tulsa,  Kristina Merkle currently sits in third place with her two-round 150 total, followed by Sarah Elliot who turned in a team-best even par 72 in the second round for a 152 total, currently seventh overall.  Marita Engzelius is tied for 20th place with a 158, while Abby Allford is one stroke back in 25th place.  Shu-Yin Liu owns a 163 total for 40th place.

 North Texas moved into the top spot, carding a tournament-best 299 score for a 615 two-day total.  Sam Houston State’s Kirsten Spittler has a three-stroke lead with a 2-over-par 146 total.
